Getting started
Publish your first specification table
From existing product data to a table on your storefront.
Open MetaSpecs in Shopify admin. Choose a furniture, lighting or general starter, or scan product fields for suggestions.
Connect each row to a product field or supported metafield. Starter fields are suggestions; add missing values in Shopify before publishing.
Choose a real product in the preview. Rename and reorder your rows, then decide whether to hide missing values.
Select the products or collections that should show this table. Save the draft, then publish.
In the Shopify theme editor, open the relevant product template. Inside Product information (or Product), choose Add block → Apps → Spec table. Save the theme.
Check the live product page on desktop and mobile, including a second variant. Publishing a table does not add the theme block automatically.
Choose the right table by tag, type, vendor, collection or category. Pro.
Open Rules and choose a saved table. Add exact-match conditions for product type, tag, vendor, collection or Shopify category.
Choose match all (AND) or match any (OR), and arrange rules in priority order.
Preview a product sample. Check the winning table and any overlapping matches before publishing.
Publishing Rules makes the latest saved draft of each enabled table live on matching products. Publish Rules again after changing those tables; publishing a table updates its direct selections separately.
Connect translated product text metafields to your labels. Pro.
Create a product text metafield for a label, for example custom.spec_brand_label. Give it a default value on relevant products.
Translate the field using Shopify Translate & Adapt or Shopify’s translation API.
In the row’s advanced options, enter the namespace and key in Translated label field. Save and publish the table, or republish Rules.
Check the storefront in each supported language. Shopify resolves the translated field; missing translations fall back to its default value, then the normal row label.
Save a draft while you edit. The currently published configuration stays separate until you publish the changes.
Preview your product and assignments before publishing. Check Rules separately if you use automatic matching.
If another tab or staff member saved a newer version, preserve your work and reload. MetaSpecs blocks the stale save instead of overwriting the newer version.
Each table supports 20 rows and 25 selected products or collections. A single publication can change at most 25 combined old and new selections; remove and publish old selections before adding new ones if needed.
Choose what stays visible. Keep your saved drafts.
In Billing, choose the one table and up to 25 products you want to keep visible on Free.
Without a choice, the oldest published table stays visible on up to 25 products it already covers. Your choice does not assign a table to new products.
All drafts remain saved and editable. Coverage is checked against Shopify when you open the app or publish, and by periodic hourly checks.
If Shopify billing cannot be checked, the last confirmed storefront remains. Creating and publishing tables pauses until verification recovers.
